​July 2013-Present

 

  • The sole Registered Dietitian for two long-term care facilities in the Pittsburgh, PA area.

  • Responsible for evaluating resident's nutritional status, recommending nutritional interventions, and monitoring their progress.

  • Responsible for interviewing and educating residents on therapeutic diets, diet consistencies, fluid restrictions, and any dietary concerns.

  • Monitors resident's body weight status for significant changes from 1 week to 6 months.

  • Completes nutrition assessments and MDS reports.

Nutrition Consultant, Penguin Group USA

​Sept 2013-Oct 2013

 

  • Nutrition consultant for a cookbook titled, "Idiot's Guides: Mediterranean Diet Cookbook".

  • Responsible for analyzing over 200 recipes and calculating their nutritional content.

 

  • Anticipated publishing date is April 2014.

Graduate Dietetic Intern, West Virginia University

​Aug 2011-May 2013

The Graduate Dietetic Internship program is a two-year combined program that provides the supervised practice experience that is required to be eligible for the R.D. exam as well as obtaining a masters degree through graduate courses and a thesis.

• This compreshensive program included 9 weeks of clinical, 9 weeks of foodservice management, 6 weeks of community, and 4 weeks of professional development rotations.
• Completed a 6 week clinical rotation at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV. Completed 1 week of staff relief at this 424-bed hospital and presented a 30-min case study to over 10 RDs & supervisors on staff.
• Responsible for writing and publishing 3+ nutrition-related blog posts per week.
• Attended the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) in Philadelphia, PA.

Graduate Teaching Assistant, West Virginia University

​Graduate Teaching Assistants are obligated to the extent of teaching two three-hour courses per semester or the equivalent in laboratory classes or other forms of departmental assistance, except research assistance. On average, graduate teaching assistants should expect to work, on average, 20 hours per week. Roles and responsibilities include proctoring and grading quizzes and exams, answering student questions, maintaining a gradebook, and performing lectures as needed.

 

Has given lectures in an Introduction to Nutrition course (200 students). Topics included: Protein, Carbohydrates, Fiber, Alcohol, and Vegetarian Diets.

PNC Park Customer Service Intern, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

​May 2008-Aug 2008

​Supervised and maintained the Pittsburgh Tribune kiosk at all Pittsburgh Pirate home games. Responsible for opening and closing kiosk, and promoted the Trib to game attendees and created positive interactions. Because of success of efforts with attendees at kiosk, was given the ability to sell subscriptions for commission, which was a first for this promotional area.
